Surgery & Such

My nose surgery was yesterday afternoon and it was a little more intense than Jimmy or I envisioned ha!  I was thinking it couldn't be worse than the initial break, but needless to say, I felt rough when I woke up from anesthesia. All was well once the pain meds kicked in and today has been fine.  Thank goodness, because this is really the worst possible time for me to be down as Jimmys test is next week!

Charlie Banks is really too funny. His new thing that he must have learned at school is "Charlie Banks' turn!"  So yesterday I was cleaning the toilet and he proclaimed "Charlie Banks' turn!" And helped me clean the toilet. He will make a darn good husband if he keeps that up!  Haha.

Hainesy has been a bit naughty and not wanted to nap very well this week. He had always been a pretty good napper, but babies have a way of reminding you pretty quickly who is really in charge!

Random, but our favorite breakfast has changed from avocado toast to these yummy breakfast bowls. I make everything sans the egg and cheese on Sundays and it heats perfecty throughout the week.  Peel and chop several sweet potatoes and mix with chopped purple onion on baking sheet. Coat with olive oil then top with chile and garlic powders. Roast for about 40 minutes or until cooked through. Combine with about half of a can of black beans and some cilantro. Top with cheese and an egg.  It's delicious with shredded cheddar or feta!  Sounds a bit strange, but is filling, healthy and so good!

Lately

  • We have just been loving the spring like weather and have been trying to soak it up as much as possible!  We have been eating lunch outside, going on lots of walks, jumping on our jump castle, etc. I can't believe it is still February!
  • Charlie Banks has been having these weird obsessions with these bowling pins that are animals and this strange little Velcro cat that came on an IKEA play mat. He pretends the bowling pins are babies and says "oh no!  Poo poo!" And then wants you to pretend to change their diaper.  He also will take them into our room and get the boppy and  pretend to nurse them!  He has never wanted to take any blankets or stuffed animals to bed with him and even freaked out when I suggested a blanket the other week. But, the cat went to bed with him a few nights ago. It will probably be the last of that, because he woke up at 6 and didn't go back down since he had a toy to play with!  The cat had to go to school with him today!
  • Charlie Banks is getting pretty good with his manners!  He has please, thank you, and ma'am down. It's too funny though, because he says no ma'am to Jimmy, too!
  • Hainesy is really getting his rolling down!  He's starting to scoot, too!  Where is our little newborn baby?  It really goes too fast!
  • My nose is broken!  The other night Charlie Banks was being super wild on the bed, which is mostly our fault, because we have allowed it. I was trying to contain him since Haines was on the bed, too.  Well, this resulted in me getting a hard blow from the back of his head to my nose!  I immediately knew it was broken!  I'll have surgery on Monday.  No more monkeys jumping on my bed!

Valentines!

Happy Valentines Day!  We (me) had fun making valentines for Charlie Banks school friends!  It was so fun going through his goodies when we got home, too!  I dread the day when he has to miss out on most treats because of his allergy!  He's too little to care yet, but I know one day it will be a bummer. Not to mention scary that he might accidentally get his hands on something he's not supposed to have. Hainesy and I had a fun morning at Starbucks, grocery and walking with friends. We bought daddy a big ribeye for valentines!  Ha. The way to a mans heart is through his stomach, right?
